Careers in International Organisations
Career in brief
Sometimes referred to as multilateral or international organisations, international organisations worldwide are established, controlled, and sometimes financed by member countries. With a mandate to solve global and regional problems, they can approach national government agencies and hire highly-skilled, experienced legal professionals with knowledge of international commercial law. Otherwise, opportunities are advertised on their website, and applicants may submit applications.
It is not uncommon for law graduates to see a role in an international organisation as part of their long-term career plan rather than a short-term destination after their graduate school studies. In the recruitment process, it is imperative to be aware of the skills, expertise, and broader profiles sought and where you can gain valuable experience depending on the organisation you are targeting.
